How IELTS Scores Are Calculated
Overall Band Score
Your overall band score is the average of all four modules: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. If the average is between two bands (e.g., 6.5), it is rounded to the nearest 0.5.
Example:
Reading: 7.0 + Writing: 6.5 + Listening: 7.0 + Speaking: 6.5 = 27 ÷ 4 = 6.75 → 6.5

Frequently Asked Questions
What band score do I need for university?
Most universities require Band 6.0 to 6.5 for undergraduate programs, and Band 6.5 to 7.0 for graduate programs. Top universities often require 7.0 or higher. Check your target university's requirements.
Can I get different band scores in each module?
